Resources for safeguarding Sri Lanka’s environment
EFL’s Resources section brings together important legal, scientific, and educational materials- tools that help shape environmental protection in Sri Lanka. Reflecting the organisation’s dual strengths in law and science, they showcase the foundation of evidence, policy, and public knowledge that drives EFL’s advocacy and conservation work.
The Acts & Legal Resources library provides access to the core environmental laws governing Sri Lanka’s natural heritage, including legislation on protected areas, forests, coasts, marine pollution, soil conservation, environmental impact assessment and resource extraction. These statutes form the backbone of national environmental governance and are essential references for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, students, and citizens seeking to understand or uphold environmental rights and obligations.
Complementing these are EFL’s Guides and Toolkits, practical resources designed to support frontline officers, community leaders, legal professionals, and environmental practitioners. These tools provide step-by-step guidance on species identification, wildlife crime prosecution, watershed management, reef monitoring, and environmental compliance.
EFL’s Publications– including books, reports, and policy reviews- offer in-depth analyses of ecological challenges, legal frameworks, biodiversity trends, and conservation needs across the country. These works translate field research, legal interventions, and scientific expertise into accessible, evidence-based knowledge.
Finally, the Research section features EFL’s scientific studies, socio-ecological assessments, and landscape-level analyses that inform national policy, strengthen conservation planning, and deepen understanding of Sri Lanka’s ecosystems.
Together, these resources empower stakeholders at every level to protect Sri Lanka’s environment with knowledge, accuracy, and informed action.
